Two of my favourite photographers are the German born married couple, Bernd and Hilla Becher. In the late 1950’s, they began photographing a wide variety of industrial buildings, including factories, water towers, engine houses and lime kilns. The subject matter is plain and simple, yet beautiful in it’s uniformity. Back in 2015, their work inspired me to photograph a series of churches from a wide variety of denominations. In the future, I hope to create further architectural ‘typologies’ and perhaps even publish a book.
